Blegh…

February 24, 2006

I feel bloody rough today, achey and generally lethargic and tired. It’s kinda fluey but hopefully I should be over it in a day or so. I’m at work, but I’d much rather be on the sofa at home watching some crap daytime telly. Paracetamol is helping me feel reasonably human.

House is still going through, we’re just waiting on everybody else now!

Stuff on your cat?

This site is just barmy! Some of them are a little cruel, but others just had me chuckling to myself.

Still a chance…

February 12, 2006

Well… we’ve managed to find a bit more money. £1,700 in fact, £1,000 of which I had originally saved to buy my new drumkit. I’ll be waiting a bit longer for that I guess.

So we’re going to put in our final, final offer this week. We’re still £800 under the minimum they said they’d accept, so we’ve just got to hope the agent talks them round.

We have also started looking around at other houses, but at first glance none compare.

Denied…

Our offer didn’t get accepted. And as we can’t go any higher we’ll have to forget that one.

The case of the plane and conveyor belt

February 9, 2006

Following on from the post at kottke.org.

“A plane is standing on a runway that can move (some sort of band conveyer). The plane moves in one direction, while the conveyer moves in the opposite direction. This conveyer has a control system that tracks the plane speed and tunes the speed of the conveyer to be exactly the same (but in the opposite direction). Can the plane take off?”

Let’s try and clear this up once and for all.

The plane will take off. And here’s why:

Accepted!

February 8, 2006

We’ve literally just had the call from the mortgage company. They accepted our application for the mortage! Yay!!

Now we just have to put our offer on the house and hope that he’s happy with it…

Out of our hands…

February 6, 2006

Well… we’ve put in our mortgage application. It was a case of ‘computer says no’, but it was referred outside for someone to review. We’ll know in a couple of days, then we can put our final offer in.

Fingers crossed!

How high can we go?

February 2, 2006

In light of the seller not accepting our last offer, I’m going to speak to a mortgage broker today about possibly adding £5k onto the mortgage we might be able to get. This should give us some extra headroom for bargaining as it looks like we need to be closer to the asking price for this.

It’s getting scary, but we really love this house…
